The Wine Emporium is a fine wine store in Fortitude Valley, Queensland Australia. It carries a hand-selected range of wines from Australia's specialist producers as well as classic and rare bottles from all over the planet. The store also stocks a great range of spirits, liqueurs and beers, Riedel glassware and decanters, and wine accessories.
We have selected a portion of our range to have available on our website. However our store carries a much greater array. So, if something you are looking for is not on this site, please ring or email us and we will endeavor to find it for you.
DIY Wine Fridge
Necessity is indeed the mother of invention, and it was the last Queensland summer (and the unexpected arrival home of my cellar) that prompted me to invent the DIY Wine Fridge. I now have two, running at 13.5 and 14.5 degrees respectively with less than a one degree fluctuation. They cost me $103 and $84 in total to assemble ... here's the recipe:
Step 1: Get an old fridge. To maximise space, one without a freezer is ideal, although I've found the freezer compartment can make a handy beer chiller.
Step 2: Get a MashMaster Fridgemate (Pictured). I sourced mine through Craft Brewer - a local Home Brew Supplier www.craftbrewer.com.au
Step 3: If you are handy ... wire it in yourself. It comes with instructions, but if you are electrically challenged, bring an electrician in for the job.
Step 4: Set the temperature and fill it with wine
