If high praise and high points are awarded by the critics for truly outstanding complexity, balance and length of flavour, then the 2017 by Farr GC Chardonnay is a candidate for perfection. The aromatics completely filled the space in the glass; elegance and florals further away, or stunningly detailed primary fruit flavour closer in. The palate offered flat out incredible intensity, with a linear force and surge of flavour that required no excess weight to allow the wine to come to a super long, drawn-out focused finish. This is just incredible Australian Chardonnay, possibly the finest we’ve ever tasted.

Close planted/high density on a North, North East slope with a diverse range of soils including limestone & grey loam with buckshot stones. Handpicked and whole-bunch pressed, the fruit is put to barrel (35% new French) where lees stirring, and malolactic fermentation is allowed, and then bottled after 11 months.

“A wine with great fruit presence and varietal character at the front of the palate, the power of this site then takes over the palate and finishes with a very assertive line of acidity. We love everything about this 2017 and are continually amazed by the potential of this site.” Nick Farr
