Description

"Owned by Gérard Perse of Château Pavie, who noted the striking similarities between the terroir here and at Pavie, this is a 9.5-hectare vineyard on the limestone plateau of Castillon." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

"The 2022 Clos Lunelles retains that plushness on the nose with small black cherry, violet, cassis and fig aromas, demonstrating more delineation than its stablemate, Monbousquet. The palate is medium-bodied and quite sapid in the mouth, with fine tannins, a dash of black pepper and a persistent, tobacco-tinged finish. This Côtes de Castillon will need four to five years to shave its edges, but it should be worth the wait." - 92 points, Neal Martin

"The 2022 Clos Lunelles is a heady, flamboyant wine. A rush of dark red/purplish fruit, cedar, tobacco, incense and dried herbs races out of the glass, announcing this stylish Côtes de Castillon with notable class. Pretty floral overtones from the Cabernet Franc lift the finish nicely." - 93 points, Antonio Galloni

"Blue fruits, ink, salty wet stones, flint, and bitter black chocolate create an intense aromatic profile. Bright and brimming with energy - strawberries, red cherries, and chalky tannins lead to liquorice, tobacco, and toasted spice. Compact and focused, with a smooth, streamlined feel and a juicy core. The terroir shines, and the balance is impeccable. Ends moreish, immediately inviting another sip. Complete and true to its place."  - 93 points, Georgina Hindle
