"The 2022 Clos René has an intense bouquet with wild strawberry and raspberry scents, perhaps not quite delivering the complexity that I was hoping for in the context of some great vintages in recent years. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet opening featuring red fruit laced with candied orange peel. It feels a little Mediterranean toward the finish, missing a bit of Pomerol DNA at the moment." - 90 points, Neal Martin

"The 2022 Clos René is a heady, old-school Pomerol. Dark cherry, worn-in leather, spice and tobacco fill in the layers. This sector in Pomerol, where soils are lighter and drier, was especially challenged in 2022. Consequently, the fruit profile here leans toward the slightly roasted side of the spectrum. All things considered, this is a strong showing for the year." - 91 points, Antonio Galloni

"Alluring freshness and minerality here with a touch of white pepper, walnut husk, sweet spices, iron and savory plums. Fresh and textured with firm tannins and an extensive finish. Reserved, traditional and pretty classic. Drink from 2026." - 93 points, Zekun Shuai for James Suckling

"A ferrous nose with striking aromas of iron, strawberries and cherries. Clean and clear, this has an immediate brightness from the acidity which then settles with a chalky, iron grip towards the finish. Lots of sticky liquorice and cedar spice which will settle in time. Stops a little short but not too rich or intense, a lightly framed Pomerol. This has mellowed a lot from Primeurs and is now softer and more approachable." - 91 points, Georgina Hindle
