Description

"The 2024 season in Margaret River was an interesting one and perhaps even more site specific than usual, given the heat and the lack of water. This is a full press here, no cuts, meaning the skins and stalks and seeds have an increased impact on the final wine. It was cold settled, pressed straight to barrel and fermented in situ on full solids in 50% new oak; 20% of the wine went through natural malolactic fermentation. Aromatically, this 2024 Margaret River Chardonnay leads with crushed nuts and white flowers, green apple, white pineapple/pineapple husk, yellow peach and brine. There's a hint of dried herbs, kelp and sage, perhaps thyme, all good things in the context of the wine. The acidity tastes juicy and ripe, threaded through the fruit. A spectacular wine." - 95 Points, Erin Larkin, Robert Parker Wine Advocate

"Light, bright yellow colour with a very complex bouquet of roasted nuts, singed toast, matchstick, grapefruit and much more, including generous and stylish oak. It's very generous and powerful, and this theme continues in the mouth where it is full bodied and generous—a riper style of powerful and very regional chardonnay with a gentle kick of alcohol warmth and a long, long carry. Classic gingin clone grapefruit. This youngster is already showing strongly." - 95 Points, Huon Hooke, The Real Review

"This Chardonnay was grown on a vineyard in the south of Margaret River, planted in 1996. It was pressed “straight to oak, no cuts, no adjustments”. Quantities are minimal; I can’t imagine that he’ll have any problem selling out. This is a beautiful wine. Sunny, svelte, fresh, juicy and more-ish. It tastes of pears and grilled peaches, chamomile tea, cream and almonds paste, and throughout it feels pristine, textured, long and exquisite. There’s a citrussy burst to the back half of the wine, which helps with that sling through the finish. This is a high grade wine." - 95 Points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
