John Duval and his wines don't really need an introduction anymore - after almost thirty years at Penfolds, Duval decided to start his own label in 2003, crafting stellar wines that reflect the wonderful Barossa terroir. Along the way he consulted with many wineries, here and abroad, and honed his skills to perfection and today's offer is a statement to that! You will find below a couple of his 2017 release, namely the 99 Points Entity Shiraz and the ever-delicious Plexus blend that we enjoyed so much we decided to stockpile it.
Before we move on to the wine, a quick word about the 2017 vintage - an even and long ripening season, helped by well-needed rains at the back end of 2016, ensured a quality and bountiful harvest that delivered wines with a general theme of freshness, savoury spice and lifted aromatics. Enjoy!

2017 Plexus Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre - $33
51% Shiraz, 32% Grenache, 17% Mourvèdre
"Lifted aromas of red fruits, rose petals and dried herbs enhanced by cinnamon and earth. Medium bodied showing bright and fleshy layers of raspberry, redcurrant and darker fruit edges. Supple, classy tannins leading to a soft-textured elegant finish." - J. Duval
"From old vines in five districts, fermented with submerged cap, matured in French oak (32% new) for 15 months. Complex and rich from the first whiff, it doesn’t waste a single berry of this great vintage. So much power, such elegance.” - 99 Points, James Halliday, The Australian
