The pinnacle of the family estate are three single vineyard wines that have quickly established themselves as benchmarks for how high the quality of these two Burgundian varieties can reach when the combinations of terroir and an extremely talented & experienced family like the Farr’s get to work.
The GC Chardonnay is named in honour to Gary Charles Farr and was first released with the 2015 vintage, this wine has quickly found its way to the top tier of its class.
The Tout Pres Pinot Noir has for many years been regarded as one of the most complex and expressive wines made has a sibling in the RP Pinot Noir which is proudly named after Robyn Pamela Farr who is Gary’s wife and Nicks Mother. The RP & Tout Pres stand proudly side by side showcasing the unique qualities & tones of these two single vineyard wines with very distinctly different personalities but both sitting at the top of the Farr Pinot Noir tree.
“The release of our most anticipated wines is upon us once again. It is always exciting to see how much further the Cote Vineyard has advanced, and along with each release of these close planted vineyards, we see greater potential of our most advanced viticultural site”. Nick Farr
2018 Farr Rising Chard 2018 –
“The site typically has citrus blossom, which lifts the well-integrated fruit and wet stone aromatics of this wine. The palate shows great drive, racy acidity, moving towards fine mineral elements. Chardonnay with understated power, length and subtlety from a very textured site with great balance.” - Nick Farr
2018 Farr Rising Pinot Noir -
"The wine typically shows a soft perfumed nose, which begins to build. The palate has sweetness, followed by mineral overtones enhanced by toasty oak, and firm flavours with a long and savoury finish. This is a gem of a wine, with ageing potential of five to eight years from most vintages." - Nick Farr
2018 GC Chardonnay -
“A wine with great fruit presence and varietal character at the front of the palate, the power of this site then takes over the palate and finishes with a very assertive line of acidity. We love everything about this 2018 Chardonnay. It is a vintage of great balance and completeness. As our greatest expression of chardonnay this wine has very quickly commanded a strong following around the world.
“This is a stunning chardonnay, tremendously complex and rewarding to drink already but promising to unfold more in another year or so. Smokey low-level sulphides and nutty barrel-ferment nuances are added to intense grapefruit on the nose and palate.” - Nick Farr
2017 RP Pinot Noir -
“A bouquet of absolute intrigue and under growth from a extremely fresh and high natural acidity vintage. The elegant yet savoury power that we are growing to love from the Cote Vineyard wines is showing once again from both the pinot and the GC Chardonnay.
The palate is lengthy and layered. It is a pinot that keeps giving with every minute in the glass. This is one of the great pinots we have made, with fantastic ageing potential.
RP, Real Pinot, Serious Pinot Noir." - Nick Farr
2017 Tout Pres Pinot Noir -
“We are just as happy with Tout Pres 2017 as we are the RP Pinot. Tout Pres has shown its credentials of a number of years, with its understated presence. A vintage with amazing appeal and balance because of the high toned acid. Tout Pres vineyard in the past has generally been tight and structured at release, but in more recent years the palate is finer and delicate upon release. The layers of flavour, tannin, and acidity morph into an extremely long back palate. Great cellaring potential." - Nick Farr
