This week we are quite excited to be able to share with you two delicious Southern Rhône reds that we recently tried and fell in love with. Both are based on the fruity Grenache grape with the first one, a Côtes du Rhône, being soft, textured and deliciously easy to approach, and the second one a dense, dark, brawny Châteauneuf-du-Pape that, albeit delightful now, will truly bloom into a spectacular offering with some cellaring patience.

2016 Château de Beaucastel Coudoulet Côtes du Rhône Rouge - $49
"This has a very plush, luscious and generously fleshy feel. Cherry compote, raspberries, blackberries and plums. Tarry elements, too. Smooth, velvety, pure and even. Succulence, elegance and clarity. Such value here." - 94 Points, James Suckling
"The 2016 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel was bottled just two weeks before my visit, hence the plus sign attached to its rating. Planted just outside the boundaries of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the vines here average 80 years old. Mouthwatering aromas of red fruit and spice lead the way, backed by a full-bodied wine that's creamy and lush but also silky and vibrant. As always, it's one of the best Côtes du Rhône wines from a given vintage." - 92+ Points, Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate
2016 Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge - $75
"Very dark robe, more black-purple than dark red. The bouquet is dense, unwavering, on a thorough black jam paste aroma, a super coulis of blueberry, nudges of black olives lurking. The palate is stylish, very filled, has salted threads along the way, the flavour one of bold black fruits with a sealed, always smooth, oily, gummy texture. This has enormous richness, fantastic length, is a very dense orb, with the tannins showing some spark and spice, tar, towards the close. It will live extremely well, has the balance and size of this remarkable vintage. A magnum would be amazing. This takes me back to the glory days of the 1960s here." - 6* (his highest rating) John Livingstone-Learmonth, Drink Rhône
