Viña Vik

Vik landscape

Chile has been going through a genuine rebirth in the past few years and Viña Vik has been spearheading that effort in the Cachapoal Valley. Boasting an impressive pedigree, with the first winemaker being Patrick Valette (Château Pavie), then followed by Cristián Vallejo (Châteaux Margaux and Léoville-Poyferré), and backed by Norwegian billionaire Alexander Vik, the powerful and elegant wines of Viña Vik made such an impression on us that we've decided to import them ourselves!

What is so special about the Cachapoal Valley you ask? Well, the answer is quite easy - located just south of Santiago, nestled at the foot of the Andes, it benefits from a cooling afternoon breeze coming from the sea and from an overall Mediterranean climate - both are great to ensure Cabernet and Carmenere ripens evenly and healthily. Add to that Viña Vik's very densely planted vineyard (60% denser than Chile's average) and you get fresh wines of poise, structure and balance.
