Elio Sandri Barolo Offer

Elio Sandri

Things move slowly at Cascina Disa, a modest 7 ha estate high-up in the hills of the Perno Cru of Monforte d’Alba. It's a measured and patient approach that is out-of-step with modern wisdom and one which the Sandri family have dedicated themselves to religiously since taking over the estate back in 1965. The end game is producing wines of deep provenance and longevity, classically styled Barolo that hark back to the towering Barolo made by the legendary producers of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.

Leeuwin Estate Offer

Leeuwin Estate

One of the five founding wineries of Margaret River in Western Australia, Leeuwin Estate has built a reputation for excellence over many years. The annual release of their Art Series chardonnay is arguably the most anticipated white wine release in the country, and while cabernet takes a humble seat alongside chardonnay at Leeuwin, it too is a perennial contender for the region's finest.

The 2015 vintage in Margaret River delivered a magnificent encore to Leeuwin Estate's outstanding 2014 releases. Quality is excellent across the board, with this year's Art Series chardonnay providing a superb sparring partner to last year's much lauded offering, and one which will no doubt provide some entertaining side-by-side tasting over the next decade or so. The 2013 'Prelude' and 2014 'Art Series' cabernet duo are in superb form too and mark a continued commitment to quality on the red side of the equation at Leeuwin. This is a vintage that will see these wines blossom in the cellar.

Moss Wood Tasting

Keith and Clare Mugford have spent the better part of four decades working in the vineyards and making wine at their modest Wilyabrup property in Margaret River. In that time they have built a reputation for producing powerful and complex chardonnay and richly textured semillon. However it is their cabernet wines which have come to define their Moss Wood estate. Powerful, yet fine boned and elegant, they stylistically nod to Bordeaux, while showcasing their exceptional Wilyabrup terroir at their core. They are regarded as some of the finest cabernet produced anywhere in the country, and rightly so.

Margaret River was blessed with yet another superb vintage in 2015 and this tasting will give you an opportunity to see what a high quality, experienceD estate like Moss Wood can put in the bottle in such sensational conditions. We are also blessed to have Alex Coutas and Tristan Mugford from the winemaking team joining us in the store to talk about the wines, Moss Wood and all things Margaret River.
