The palate is energetic with bright red fruits and blood orange citrus peel balanced by a gentle barrel influence. “A savoury-driven single vineyard Pinot Noir from Polperro, but this Little Laney carries more grunt and fruit than its Talland Hill sibling. The vineyard is located on a steep easterly slope facing out over Western Port Bay and Phillip Island and it sees 30% new French oak for 16 months. Plums, blackcurrants, apricot kernels, pine needles and mushroom compost set the mood. Twigs, strawberries and dark cherries add further interest as they fill the mouth with ease adding a delicate density. Drying out slowly and seductively, dancy acidity shows life with some red apples clinging to the tail. Baking spices add the final touch to a sustained finish.
