"The 2022 Château d'Armailhac has a detailed and expressive bouquet that's classic Pauillac in style, with a little more black fruit than I noticed from barrel, here laced with cedar and pencil box aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a succulent entry. It has plenty of fruit concentration, gentle grip, a touch of blackberry mixed with black olive and hints of allspice. There is plenty of energy in this Pauillac and as I wrote previously, there is a very pleasing crescendo at the finish. This is one of the best vintages in recent years." - 94 points, Neal Martin
"The 2022 d'Armailhac is a dense, potent wine. All of the exuberance and richness of the year comes through loud and clear. The 2022 is an especially plush d'Armailhac built on fruit texture and opulence. Plush contours wrap around a core of dark red-toned fruit, cedar, leather and dried herbs. This is a bit on the extreme side, but it is well balanced nonetheless." - 91 points, Antonio Galloni
"Floral character such as orange blossoms and cassis with lead pencil aromas that follow through to a medium body and a lovely balance of fruit and freshness. It’s long and caressing with everything in place. Crisp. Best ever? 60% cabernet sauvignon, 22% merlot, 16% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot." - 97 points, James Suckling
"Rich and toasty nose with sun-kissed blackcurrants, liquorice, tobacco, and a touch of tar. Some warmth and baked fruit add a jammy edge. Supple yet lively, with chewy fruit offset by juicy acidity and a salty, powdery minerality. A little tight but appealing, with a fresh minty lift. The 16% Cabernet Franc is unusual for Pauillac but gives a strong backbone. Less clay than the other estates, leaving a richness on the finish that reflects the vintage. Bottled end of May. 3.74pH. 50% new oak." - 95 points, Georgina Hindle
"Very dark with a purple rim. Richer and sweeter on the nose than many. The fruit is all dark. Immense tannins but also immense finesse in the tannins. Stay away for some time. This is all savoury and mineral. Deep-fruited underneath. Massive wine that will reward patience." - 18/20, Jancis Robinson
