Description
"This too is aromatically restrained with its exceptionally spicy nose that is similar to that of the CP but with just a bit more oak influence. The supple, round and delicious broad-shouldered flavors possess a relatively easy-going mid-palate that contrasts significantly with the beautifully balanced but very firm, powerful and hugely long finale. This overtly stony effort is seriously compact and like all examples of fine Richebourg, constructed for the long haul." - 93-96 points, Allen Meadows
"The 2023 Richebourg Grand Cru has a wonderful bouquet, a step above the Cros Parantoux with irresistible, vivacious brambly red fruit, briar, crushed stone and light iris flower scents. The aromatics seem multilayered here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a caressing sense of rondeur and what feels like a little lower acidity than the previous vintage. Cashmere textures pervade from start to finish without the "explosion" you might find on the 2022, yet it is seamlessly integrated with a very persistent finish. Superb." - 96-98 points, Neal Martin
"Méo's 2023 Richebourg is a wine on another level. Although closed initially, it opens on the palate to reveal a lovely, subtle, plummy fruit with accents of all smoke, mineral, and, of all things, nutmeg that brings a pleasant spicy note. The texture is elegant and silky, yet fresh and dense. The complexity comes directly from the two parcels: 0.04 hectares in Les Richebourgs and 0.30 hectares with three planting dates (the oldest in the 1950s). It will be best to give this wine a decade in the cellar before opening." - 97 points, Charles Curtis MW
