Jane Eyre Wines - A Top Talent for Australia & Burgundy in Focus & Set to Join Us!

Published by The Wine Emporium on 19th Mar 2026

We've been on the receiving end of several phone calls and emails this week, all asking the same thing about our Saturday tasting this weekend. We're here now to confirm those whispers and rumours; winemaker extraordinaire Jane Eyre will be in town and standing proud with a full lineup of her Australian and Burgundian bottles with us on Saturday!

Prior to that, for those looking to finish their work week off with some richly aromatic whites and racy well-priced reds, we have five wines from talented Barossa team Chaffey Bros in the spotlight! Join us come Friday (20th) between 4:30 and 6:30pm, as we pop open their textural 'Dufte Punkt' (Gewurztraminer/Riesling/Kerner blend), lush 'Lux Venit' Rosémade from Grenache and Mourvèdre, the floral and citrus-heavy 'Kontrapunkt' Kerner, the blue-fruited Evangeline Syrah, and the Gold Medal winning GSM from the most recent Decanter World Wine Awards - the 'La Résistance'. We continue to be impressed by the poise and personality this team bring at this value each and every vintage; come by and treat your palate!

Then Saturday (21st), we'll have a multi-faceted and coveted personality of the modern wine world at our tasting table between 12 to 2pm! Originally from Melbourne, Jane Eyre started out as a wine devotee who had completed a oenology degree at Charles Sturt University, and excelled in vintage work at estates such as Cullen, Felton Road and Ata Rangi. A fateful later season at Domaine Chevrot in 1998 was the springboard for her; Burgundy was the magical place where she wanted to make things happen. By 2011, she had developed her very own namesake négociant business, focusing on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of structure, perfume and generosity, from beloved areas such as Savigny-les-Beaune, Gevrey-Chambertin, Santenay and Auxey-Duresses. She made headlines in 2021 upon receiving two stars from Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France (one of only 26 producers in the whole country to be recognised at this level), as well as becoming the first woman to be named 'Négociant of the Year' by Revue des Vins de France - a huge achievement for such a relative newcomer to the region. What's more, Jane travels back to Australia when our harvest time arrives, and works on three home-grown Pinots; we'll be showing the two from Tasmania and Mornington Peninsula!

Take a look below for Saturday's full lineup, all on special for the next week. We hope you're able to come meet Jane, and see first-hand the memorable detail a great winemaking talent can imbue across such singular appellations.

'Dufte Punkt' Field Blend 2024 -
$27 on special this week ($30 RRP)

// A field blend of Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Kerner
"It's fabulously aromatic on the nose, showing pineapple, lychee, apricot, lime peel, and subtle spice notes. The palate is equally appealing with succulent fruit intensity and fleshy texture, splendidly supported by well-pitched acidity, finishing long and tasty." - 94+ Points, Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

'Kontrapunkt' Kerner 2024 -
$27 on special this week ($30 RRP)

"Eden Valley kerner, whole-bunch pressed, wild ferment on full solids in stainless steel. Pale straw with bright citrus and light stone fruit tones. Hints of almond paste, citrus blossom, crisp pear, crushed stone and dried meadow flowers. A light textural note and a brisk, minerally finish; this makes for great and really interesting drinking." - 93 Points, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion

'La Résistance' GSM 2023 -
$27 on special this week ($30 RRP)

// Gold Medal - Decanter World Wine Awards 2025
“Bountiful fresh cherries and raspberries burst over the vanilla chocolate intensity. Weighty and complex with lush tannins and a vibrant acidity woven into the frame.” - 96 Points, Decanter World Wine Awards 2025

'Lux Venit' Rosé 2025 -
$30 on special this week ($35 RRP)

"Sandalwood, red apple and cranberry aromas lure you in. The palate is plush, offering breadth and intense flavours of red berries. It offers dimension and intensity, and has an extra layer compared to other rosés. It's a delicious wine with layers of complexity." - 91 Points, Gabrielle Poy, The Real Review

'Evangeline' Syrah 2022 -
$39 on special this week ($45 RRP)

"Single vineyard; 15% whole bunch, 15% new French oak. Pure, plummy fruits with some blueberry lift and hints of five-spice, sage, citrus blossom, blueberry pie, peppercorn, vanillin oak and panforte. It's a lovely contemporary Eden Valley shiraz this. Expressive and finely structured with a real pep to its travel across the palate." - 94 Points, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion

*Specials to be available across all bottles in-store on the day!

Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir 2024 -
$90 RRP

"From a 20 year old vineyard planted with MV6 in Shoreham. 20% whole bunches and matured in French hogsheads (10% new). The yield was 40% down on 2023. This is due to windy, cool conditions during flowering which resulted in poor fruit set and lower yields. The quality has not been impacted and this site is proving to produce excellent quality fruit each year." - Jane Eyre, Winemaker

"Off 1990s vines, the winemaking was the same as last year: indigenous ferment, 20% whole bunches, 10% new oak. Jane Eyre has had an extraordinary career so far, establishing herself in Burgundy, winning a swathe of accolades and drawing top reviews from the best in the business. The style of those wines is mirrored here, with elegance and transparency of expression key. Strawberry, red cherry, white pepper, kirsch, a waft of florals. It’s refined, stylish and all class." - 96 Points, Marcus Ellis, Halliday Wine Companion

Tasmania Pinot Noir 2024 -
$90 RRP

"From three sites in the north, this was fermented with native yeasts, then aged in French puncheons for 10 months. The Jane Eyre signature of fragrance and clarity are here, wedded with the intensity that Tasmanian pinot can often yield. Dark fruits are joined with the red, with black and red cherries, redcurrant, rosy-pink florals, some warming spices, turned earth and sweetly fresh forest floor note that will no doubt build intriguingly with tertiary development. It’s a wine of poise and detail, the palate supple, textural and effortless." - 96 Points, Marcus Ellis, Halliday Wine Companion

"Pops with juicy cherry and redcurrant, aromatic herbs, rose petals, biscuit spice and roast red capsicum. It’s a lively wine, red fruit with a cranberry freshness to acidity, something of an earthy and dried herb character, a fine grainy grip to tannin, fresh strawberry and spiced peel closes a finish of brightness and fine length. Fine bones, but still delivers a good amount of flavour. Could do with a year or two more to show its best side." - 94+ Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

Côte de Nuits Rouge 2023 -
$155 RRP

"I started working with this appellation in 2014. This wine is usually a blend of 2 parcels located in Comblanchien and Corgoloin which are owned by the same grower. However, this year I obtained fruit from another parcel in Corgoloin, situated less than 100 metres from the other parcel. Aged mostly in 300L barrels and 1 new 500L barrel. Garnet in colour with a wonderfully aromatic nose consisting of bright fruit with hints of spice. The palate has loads of red summer fruit coupled with spice and cedar notes coming from the new barrel and finishing with fine tannins. This wine always over delivers." - Jane Eyre, Winemaker

"Pale red, more like a deep rosé. Stony/stemmy freshness, pared back to a minimalist wine but with a core of fruit sweetness. Very fine, silky tannins. Approachable but can only get better." - 16.5+/20 Points, Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com

Auxey-Duresses 'Les Crais' Rouge 2023 -
$155 RRP

"A new addition last year. Situated on a south-facing slope on the road heading up to Saint Romain. The valley narrows and the southern exposure is reduced due to the hill opposite. This, and the cool air that travels down from the Hautes-Côtes, makes this a particularly appealing site in the warm years. Planted some 50+ years ago on a split trellis system it looks more like a vineyard I would find in Australia, not in Burgundy. 20% new oak. Medium garnet in colour. This year the wine is open and approachable. Aromas of raspberries and strawberry supported by the spice of the barrel. Medium bodied, lots of crunchy, bright fruit flavours that are more red than black. Touch of cedar, medium bodied with fine, but firm tannins on the finish. This wine is more open at this stage than the 2022." - Jane Eyre, Winemaker

"Second vintage. Single vineyard. High trellis on lyre. 20% whole bunch, 20% new oak. Vegan. Smells so sweet-fruited after the Fleurie. Red cherry and a little bit of oak sweetness. Creamy, generous but light-bodied. Juicy, lively and long." - 16.5/20 Points, Julia Harding MW, Jancis Robinson

Santenay Blanc 2023 -
$185 RRP

"White nectarine, honey, mint and white flowers, a little spice. It’s gently nutty with a sort of brittle toffee richness, white peach, a citrus cut lends freshness, acidity is bright and juicy, and the finish is fine and long with some lemon peel to close. It offers richness, but also has energy. Excellent." - 94 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

"Aromas of marzipan and nougat, fairly straightforward but bright and fresh, and the almond aspect fairly prominent. The palate is rounded, full flavoured and a little blunt on the finish. This could still reward more time." - 92 Points, Huon Hooke, The Real Review

Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er Cru 'Aux Vergelesses' Rouge 2023 -
$240 RRP

“This is the cuvée I started my negociant with in 2011. The vineyard is located in the upper middle section on an eastern facing slope. The wine is always a mix of delicate fruit aromas with spicy undertones and a brambly edge with fine but firm tannins on the finish. 20% whole clusters and 20% new oak. Racked and assembled into tank after harvest and bottled 2nd December 2024”. - Jane Eyre, Winemaker

"Red fruit and cherries, mint, hazelnut and peanuts, spice, quite some perfume. It has a subtle earthiness, bright and succulent red fruits, nutmeg, and also some nutty grip to tannin, lively and so interesting, a little ‘mineral’ character with a finish of good length featuring strawberry and mixed spice. You pay the Burgundy tax here, for sure, though there’s so much to enjoy." - 94 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

Gevrey-Chambertin 2023 -
$265 RRP

"The fruit for this wine is sourced from 2 vineyards in Gevrey Chambertin, aged between 35-55 years old. Combe du Dessus which is just opposite the Chateau of Chambertin and En Champs, a little further along the slope opposite the 1er cru vineyard Champeaux. The fruit was so consistent we hardly needed to do any sorting. Always very seductive! Packed with sweet, generous notes of blackberries and cherries alongside a spicy edge. The palate has typically Gevrey cherry flavours finishing with fine, silky tannins. This year, this wine will benefit from a few years in the cellar before drinking." - Jane Eyre, Winemaker

"Lightish cherry red. So pretty and lightly floral. Lovely tightrope between lightness and intensity. Fragrant, extremely fine texture. Chewy, with firm fruit core. Long and subtle." - 17/20 Points, Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com
