Description / Reviews
"Samuel Billaud is considered to be one of the select few outstanding producers in Chablis. Testament to this is Samuel’s ability to bring out the unique characteristics of each of his fantastic terroirs. His wines have a distinctive elegance, balance and complexity that is seldom achieved with such precision. The vineyards are on average 30 years of age and are located in the “Les Pargues”, “Le Chapelot” and "Les Quarts" climats*. "What a fine example of Chablis with a subtle nose of citrus, grapefruit and infused iodine and oyster shell minerality. The palate is vibrant, with a lasting round finish. This is a great Chablis." - Importer's Review
"There is a great purity to the aromas of nectarine and lemon peel in the delicious village Chablis from Samuel Billaud. It's lively and fresh, with a tension that carries the wine to a lingering finish. The grapes are from three parcels: two on the left bank – Pargues (near Préhy) and the back side of the Montmains slope – and on the right bank, vines at the base of Montée de Tonnerre. They represent 5ha in total; 2ha domaine and 3ha purchased fruit." - 92 Points, Charles Curtis MW, Decanter
"A blend of Samuel’s three excellent terroirs, Les Pargues, Cartes-Fontenottes, and Bas de Chapelot. Pale colour. A very classic nose, not too pungently marine, with a depth of fruit, clean clear cut white fruit with a real crispness to finish. The lees work is exemplary. Drink from 2025-2028." - Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
