Description / Reviews
"This lightly golden chardonnay is aromatically generous giving red apple, custard apple, quince and fresh picked wildflowers. Nutmeg, clove and vanilla bean are the driving secondary spices, complimentary to the apple Danish / fresh pastry lees aromas. Roasted hazelnuts and waves of toasty new oak proceed. The wine is not shyly expressed in the glass. Fine acid is wound around the wine’s silky lees, driving complexity. In equal measures this King Valley chardonnay shows salinity, ripe fruit and clotted cream which unapologetically fill out the palate. A considered and structured chardonnay." - Winemaker Notes
"The fruit might be from a different vineyard, but the winemaker’s signature is here: pretty detail, understated complex tones of fruit and non-fruit, mineral tension, all seen in so many other VS&B wines. There’s a raw element to this wine (but not rugged), wild edge, rolled oats, meadow flowers, salty-savoury clotted cream, hay, crab apples, a hint of cinnamon bark. It’s bucolic. Absolutely effortless on the palate, lithe, pretty, detailed like no other, yet persistent and impactful. Such an honest pleasure." - 95 Points, Kasia Sobiesiak, The Wine Front
