Description

"Cask sample. Smudgy cherry red. Inviting sweet-sour red-cherry aroma. Lightly peppery. Like the Clos des Guettes, it’s nicely balanced, with fine tannins but lacks some oomph on the mid palate." - Jancis Robinson

"Here the wood treatment is more subtle while the ripe mix of red and dark pinot fruit displays more evident floral influence. The supple, delicious and vibrant, if not especially dense, flavors offer reasonable depth and persistence on the slightly grippy and youthfully austere finale. This is sufficiently firm to require at least some patience and it should ultimately reward a decade plus of aging." - Allen Meadows

"The 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru has more lift and perfume compared to the Clos des Guettes, with finely delineated red cherries, strawberries and rooibos. The palate is balanced and structured with a bit of sinew on the opening, a powdery texture and conspicuous bell pepper notes toward the finish. Drink over four to six years." - Neal Martin

"The Dominode bottling from Jadot is consistently its top wine from this village. The 2023 boasts a deep ruby hue and pronounced aromas of black plum and mulberry, with an edge of mineral concentration and a hint of spice. The texture is tannic and dense, driving the wine to an impressively lingering finish that displays a great purity of fruit due to the ageing in large oak uprights (foudres). The grapes are from 1.75ha of east-facing vines that are up to 80 years of age." - Charles Curtis MW
