"Kalleske Old Vine Grenache is made from a low yielding, single vineyard planted in 1935 on our Kalleske estate. Situated on the outskirts of Greenock in the North-Western Barossa Valley, the Kalleske’s have been farming this property for over 160 years and the vineyard is now tended by sixth and seventh generation family members.
Following the picking of these dry-grown Grenache grapes, they were fermented in open fermenters and then gently pressed in our estate winery. The wine was matured in seasoned oak hogsheads giving a complex Grenache wine, which will benefit from cellaring." - Kalleske, Winemaker
“Recognising that it is among the elite of Australia’s wines thanks to the vignerons and winemaker’s abilities. The wine shows flavours with balance, flavour, complexity, intensity and freshness and the ability to improve in bottle. Wines with five gold stars can be served with pride in the company of the world’s best wines”. - 91 Points, Robert Geddes, Australian Wine Vintages
“There is something intriguing about this wine. The uniquely etched bottle reflects the earliest days of the winery. The wine is deep and dark, the aroma is sweet and pronounced, and the palate is full and luscious”. - Russ Mills, Gourmet Wine Traveller
